HASP HL MSI Driver Installer: Readme

This device driver installer supports the Win32 and Windows x64 platforms. The installer detects the version of the operating system at run-time, before installing the relevant drivers.

The list below includes new features, improvements, and other relevant information. It is arranged in descending chronological order.

Enhancements

Support for Windows Vista x86 and x64 operating systems.
Win32 HASP HL Envelope-protected applications that use DataHASP or overlays can now run on Win x64 operating systems.

Notes

Administrator rights are required in order to install the Driver sample. However, it is possible for a restricted user to install the Driver. For further information, see Microsoft Support Knowledge Base article # 259459.
You must change the resource path to your own environment in the project files (*.wsi, *.wsm) in order to successfully compile the samples.

Limitations

To run Win32 HASP HL Envelope-protected applications that use DataHASP or overlays on Windows x64 operating systems, you must install the drivers using a HASP HL installer utility. Drivers installed using Windows Update do not enable DataHASP and overlay functionality for these applications.
When using Win32 HASP HL Envelope-protected applications using DataHASP or overlays that run on Windows x64 operating systems, to prevent possible data loss you must unmap any memory-mapped files prior to closing the application.
